Do I need a doctor's referral to come to Flow Garments?
If you are able to claim your compression garments on your private health insurance you will need a doctor's referral. Likewise if you hold a Department of Veterans' Affairs Gold Card you will need to provide a referral.
How long does it take to make my garment?
This will depend on what type of garment you require. Most appointments are for 90minutes, so I can make your garment whilst you wait. I like to review your garment within ten days of your initial purchase as this allows me to determine if the garment is fitting properly and if final adjustments are required.
Why should I buy from Flow Garments?
I pride myself in providing a good fitting compression garment and offering a personal service.
It is imperative that you have the correct fit to ensure you receive the full benefits of wearing compression garments.
When should I wear my garment?
Garments should be put on first thing in the morning and removed just before retiring to bed. If you are flying it is highly recommended you wear your garment.
How often should I wash my garment?
Your garment should be washed after every wear. This allows the material to regain shape and strength. As well the natural oils from your skin will also be washed from the fabric. Full washing instructions will be supplied with each new garment.
Can I use moisturiser?
Yes, it is imperative you keep your skin well moisturised. However to prolong the use of your garment, it is recommended you only use skin care products after the removal of your garment. Avoid using oil based skin care products, as they may interfere with the fabric and thus adversely affect the desired compression and longevity of the garment.
How often should I get my garment reviewed?
I suggest a remeasure of your affected arm/leg every three months and adjustment of the size of the garment to any new measurements.
How long should my garment last?
This will depend on the frequency of wear, and how well you care for your garment; with normal wear and appropriate care a new garment may not be required for six months or more.
Can you repair my off the shelf garment?
Depending on the material of your off the shelf compression garment I may be able to repair it. Please call me to discuss your specific concern.
